While dozens are taken hostage, six diplomats manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian Ambassador, Ken Taylor.To extract them safely, CIA "exfiltration" specialist Tony Mendez devises a risky plan: posing as a Canadian film crew scouting locations for a fake science-fiction movie titled Argo . With the help of Hollywood makeup artist John Chambers and producer Lester Siegel, Mendez creates a legitimate-looking production front to fool Iranian authorities and fly the diplomats out of the country.
