Created by playwright Antonio Larreta, the series is inspired by the real-life figure of Andrés López, known as "El barquero de Cantillana." Set in the 19th century against the backdrop of the Peninsular War against Napoleon’s troops, the story follows Curro Jiménez—a man forced into outlawry after a dispute with local authorities.
