The story begins with the 1928 discovery of a massive, mysterious circular artifact in Giza, Egypt. Decades later, Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Spader), a linguist often ridiculed for his theories that the pyramids were not built by humans, is recruited by the U.S. military to decipher the "coverstones".
